I work from a small cottage in rural Staffordshire. My workspace is littered with tiny scraps of Liberty fabrics, vintage and modern prints, ribbons, buttons and thread stashes of every colour of the rainbow. My Bernina sewing machine is my tool of choice to recreate my quirky cheeky chicken designs.
My inspiration comes in many forms, childhood memories of "Peanuts" comic strip, song lyrics, I love the idea that my chickens would sneak out to an Elton John concert or enter Chelsea flower show.
My designs are made using calico with free machine and hand embroidery picking out details such as bees, butterflies, flowers not to mention marquees and festival tents. The final designs are stretched into hoops, and are ready to hang on your walls. More recently I have branched out into needle felting, producing shadow box frames with a tiny chick in front of a felted background and hand stitched flowers. New additions to my shop include felted owl brooches which also have a whimsical feel all of their own especially when I have to give them names!
